The Jon Daeschner Outstanding Youth Award was started in order to honor youth of any age that are involved in making their community better. Jon Daeschner, the award’s namesake, believed in his community and was always involved in some way trying to make it flourish. This award was set up in his name to honor a youth that is involved in the community via Businesses, Church, Family, School, etc. by volunteering their time. "We want to honor those youths by bringing their actions into the public eye and hopefully encourage more behavior to that degree" says Nancy Daeschner, manager of SBS Insurance in Hiawatha.
